Privacy Policy

The Short Version
We do not collect your app health data. ME Ally is owned and operated by Papersona LLC. ME Ally stores your health information locally on your device by default. We have no servers, no analytics, and no way to access your app health data. iCloud Sync is optional and off by default. If you choose to enable it, your data goes to your personal iCloud account—Apple stores it, not us.
1. What the App Stores
ME Ally stores the following information on your device:
- Health metrics you enter (overall health and activity levels on a 0-10 scale)
- Symptoms and their severity levels
- Crash/flare indicators
- Personal notes about your health
- Dates and times of your entries
- Your app preferences (reminder times, display settings)
This data is stored in a local database on your iPhone or iPad. We do not have access to any of it.
2. What We Collect From the App
No app health data.
ME Ally does not transmit your health data to us or any third party. We operate no app servers and have no backend infrastructure that receives your app health information.
Through the app, we do not collect:
- Your health entries, symptoms, or notes
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Location data
- Usage analytics or behavioral data
- Any data from Apple Health or HealthKit
3. Support Requests
If you contact us by email or through the support form on this website, Papersona LLC receives the information you choose to submit, such as your name, email address, device, iOS version, and message. We use this information only to respond to your request and provide support.
The website support form is processed by Web3Forms and uses hCaptcha for spam prevention. These services may process technical information needed to operate the form and captcha. Please avoid including sensitive health details in support requests unless you choose to share them.
4. iCloud Sync
iCloud Sync is optional and off by default. You can enable it during app setup or at any time in ME Ally's Settings. When enabled, ME Ally syncs your data across your Apple devices using Apple's CloudKit service.
How iCloud Sync Works
- Health journal data syncs through your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit Private Database
- Baseline and display preferences sync through iCloud key-value storage with a local device shadow
- Apple stores and encrypts this data on their servers
- We cannot access your iCloud data—it belongs to your Apple ID
- You can turn iCloud Sync on or off in ME Ally's Settings. Changes take effect on next launch.
- Turning off iCloud Sync in the app stops future syncing but does not delete any existing copy from your iCloud account. To manage or remove that data, go to iOS Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage.
Apple's Role
When you use iCloud sync, Apple may have access to your data under their privacy policy. If you enable Advanced Data Protection on your iCloud account, your data is end-to-end encrypted and even Apple cannot read it.
For details, see Apple's iCloud Security Overview.
5. Crash Reports
If ME Ally crashes, Apple's built-in crash reporting system may send a report to Apple. You control this in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
- Crash reports contain technical information (stack traces, device model, iOS version)
- Crash reports do not contain your health data—we use privacy-safe logging that excludes personal information
- If you opt in to sharing crash reports with developers, we may see anonymized technical data to fix bugs
6. Third-Party Services
The ME Ally app uses no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.
The app's only external service is Apple's CloudKit (if you enable iCloud sync), which is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
The website support form uses Web3Forms and hCaptcha to receive support requests and reduce spam.
7. Data Security
Your data is protected by multiple layers of security:
- Device encryption: iOS encrypts all data stored on your device
- App lock: ME Ally requires Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode to access
- File protection: The database uses iOS file protection, making it inaccessible when your device is locked
- Private logging: Health data is never written to system logs or crash reports
8. Your Control
You have complete control over your data:
| Action | How |
|---|---|
| Delete an entry | Swipe left on any entry in the Journal |
| Delete all data | Settings → Reset All Data |
| Enable or disable iCloud Sync | ME Ally Settings → iCloud Sync (takes effect on next launch). Note: turning off sync does not delete your existing iCloud data—manage that in iOS Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage. |
| Export your data | Settings → Export Data (JSON backup) |
| Import a backup | Settings → Import Data |
9. Children's Privacy
ME Ally is designed for adults tracking chronic illness. While we don't collect app health data from users of any age, this app is not intended for children under 13.
10. Legal Requests
Because we do not collect or store your app health data, we have no app health data to provide in response to legal requests. If authorities request your iCloud data, they would need to contact Apple directly, as we have no access to it. If you contact us for support, we may have the support request information you chose to provide.
11. Changes to This Policy
If we update this privacy policy, we will:
- Update the "Last Updated" date at the top
- Notify you in the app for significant changes
12. Medical Disclaimer
ME Ally is not a medical device. It is a personal tracking tool to help you review your own logged patterns and share information with your healthcare team if you choose. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, prevent, or improve any disease or medical condition.
